Geneva Jackson Bio Title

Geneva was born in Montreal in 1916, the second daughter of Henry A.C. Jackson and Coralie Adair Jackson, she studied art at the Ecole des Beaux-Arts in Paris; Montreal Museum of Fine Arts School on a two-year sculpture scholarship; Berkshire Summer School of Art and the Banff School of Art.

Her career in education included: Supervisor of Art for Schools, Lachine, Que.; Art Teacher at Montreal West High School; assisted with Saturday Morning Classes at the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts under Arthur Lismer and colleagues.

Geneva sketched with Henrietta Mabel May and received instruction from her uncle A.Y. Jackson. She painted primarily in Quebec around Baie St. Paul, St. John Port Joli, Christieville and also in Ontario with her sister Dr. Naomi Jackson Groves but also painted in Alberta, Baffin Island, the Yukon.

She is represented in private collections across Canada, U.S.A., England, Scotland, Denmark and Australia.

Geneva passed away in 2006 in Ottawa.
